13-year-old American boy breaks Tetris for the first time

Tetris was not designed to be beaten. For nearly 40 years, it was widely believed that the game was meant to be played indefinitely until the player lost.

However, the constantly evolving competitive Tetris scene pushed the game's code to its limits in pursuit of levels previously thought unattainable.

In this video screenshot, 13-year-old Willis Gibson is a player of the Tetris game, and his reaction is quite remarkable. What's impressive is that Gibson became the first player to successfully "beat" the original version of this game, albeit through a unique method. From a technical perspective, Gibson (also known as "Blue Scuti" in the gaming world) entered a state within the game known as the "kill screen," which caused the Tetris game's code to malfunction and ultimately led to the game's crash.

Willis Gibson became the first human player to accomplish this feat and trigger the "true death screen."

Upon witnessing the game's crash, he appeared extremely shocked. In his live streaming video, he seemed to be excessively gasping for air, audibly muttering "Oh, my God" several times, while clutching his temples, concerned that he might faint. He covered his mouth with his hand, evidently attempting to regulate his breathing, and finally exclaimed, "I can't feel my fingers."

It's quite unexpected that playing Tetris could be so intense that it leaves one breathless. If you're interested in giving it a try, you can experience two retro gaming consoles available on GameFly, which is quite entertaining.
